DAG, in conjunction with Babcock Governance Consultancy and the Diocese of Exeter, jointly organised a free evening seminar on Tuesday 11th February 2020 to update governors about the new inspection framework. The New Inspection Framework 2019 has been in place since September 2019. Recognising the impact Ofsted has on all of our schools and the significance of the changes being implemented. The speaker was Karl Sampson, Assistant Regional Director in Ofsted’s South West Regional Management Team and Senior HMI Link for Devon. The venue was kindly provided by Tiverton High School.

Karl Sampson is a Senior Her Majesty’s Inspector. He is a qualified teacher and has a master’s degree in inspection and regulation. Karl has significant experience as a senior leader working in large secondary schools. He has particular experience of leading school inspections across all phases, including service children’s education, and in monitoring schools causing concern, where he previously held a national role for quality assurance. Karl is currently Assistant Regional Director in Ofsted’s South West regional management team and works closely with the Regional Director to ensure that Ofsted discharges its responsibilities efficiently and effectively across all of the remits that it inspects. Within the South West region, Karl leads on quality assurance and is the link SHMI with Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly, Devon, and South Gloucestershire local authorities.
