Devon Consultation – Cranbrook Special Free School

Following a successful bid by Devon County Council (DCC) to the Department for Education (DfE) to open a new special free school in Cranbrook, East Devon the DfE has now published details on how proposer groups can apply to establish and run the new free school through a competitive process.

Applicants are able to register their interest (by completing the mandatory pre-registration form) with the DfE by 5pm on 16 June 2023. After pre-registration, applicants will receive their application forms. Completed application forms should be sent to: [email protected] from now until midday on 31 August 2023.

The proposed school will be a 70 place special free school for pupils aged 9-16 years of age with autistic spectrum disorder, social emotional and mental health, speech, language and communication needs. This is a wide brief ensuring the most complex learners, across the range of levels of cognition, can access appropriate provision close to their homes and communities.
