Home Education Survey and Guidance

Elective home education (EHE) is a term used to describe the practice of parents providing or arranging education for their children at home, or at home and in some other way they choose, instead of choosing to send their child to school full-time.

The purpose of this consultation is to seek views about proposed changes to the Department for Education’s EHE guidance for local authorities and parents, which was last reviewed in 2019.

The consultation seeks views on revised versions of the non-statutory elective home education (EHE) guidance for local authorities and parents and will close on 18th January 2024.

Comments are welcome from of all those interested in the updated EHE guidance, such as local authorities, home educating parents, schools, out-of-school settings, and charities.

Not sure about EHE?  Have a look at the DAG Busy Governor’s Guide to Elective Home Education for a very useful summary.
