Devon County Council has just appointed an interim Deputy Director, Education and Learning who has already taken up his post.
Ceri Morgan has been appointed as interim for an unspecified period of time. He was preceded by Rachel Shaw, Head of Education (Delivery) and Matthew Shanks Head of Education (Strategy), who jointly held their positions from July 2022 when the last substantive Head of Education and Learning, Dawn Stabb retired.
Ceri Morgan has a background in education as a teacher of mathematics, working across all phases of education from Early Years to undergraduate level. He was also one of Her Majesty’s Inspectors for 10 years and was seconded to The British Council and worked with the Department for Education in the Regional Academies team. His last full-time post was as Director for Education and Skills for Herefordshire Council. He also has experience as a trustee for two academy trusts.
