Devon School Consultations

Future of Kingswear Primary School

Devon County Council (DCC) is consulting on the future of Kingswear Primary School which has had no pupils on roll since the beginning of the academic term 2023. The school has received no preferences for admission into reception class for September 2024.

Kingswear Primary School is an academy and therefore it is the Secretary of State who makes the decision on whether the school should close or not and this decision has been made in principle by the Minister.  As Kingswear Primary is classified as a rural school DCC are being asked to agree to the closure. Prior to the discussion DCC welcome views on the proposed closure from stakeholders and interested parties as to the future arrangements for the catchment area for school admissions and transport.

Further information at Consultation on the future of Kingswear Primary School please respond by 22nd March 2024.

West Croft Resource Base

DCC have launched a formal representation period on the proposal to establish a Resource Base at West Croft School for up to 10 learners with communication and interaction needs from January 2025.

Further information at Consultation on West Croft Resource Base please respond by 28th March 2024.

Okehampton Primary School Resource Base

Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust is consulting on a proposal to establish from September 2024 a resource base for up to eight learners with social emotional and and mental health needs with an Education and Health Care Plan.

Further information at Consultation at Okehampton Primary School please respond by 29th April 2024.

Increasing resource base provision is part of a county-wide strategy by Devon County Council in response to the demand for increased special educational needs provision and to enhance the inclusive capacity of mainstream schools.
