Guidance for any schools wishing to become an academy has been updated.
‘Convert to an academy: guide for schools’ now indicates that from 1 September 2024, the terms and conditions for the £25,000 grant will be updated. It will continue to be paid, but only to schools approved to join or form a trust as part of a group of 3 or more schools. Therefore schools wishing to convert to a single academy trust will no longer qualify for the grant.
Special and alternative provision schools (also known as pupil referral units, or PRUs) will continue to be eligible to receive it as part of a single-school conversion process.
