The National Education Nature Park was launched last year by the Department for Education, the Natural History Museum, the Royal Horticultural Society and partners.
This offers children and young people the opportunity to take hands-on action to improve biodiversity and tackle climate change. In just one year, 1 in 8 schools and colleges in England have already signed up to take part.
Every school setting that registers on the website to join the Nature Park can now access free learning resources and guidance, linked with the National Curriculum, to help them work with children and young people to take positive action for the environment.
The Department for Education (DfE) require that by 2025, all education settings will have nominated a sustainability lead and put in place a climate action plan, irrespective of whether they are maintained schools or academies. However, the National Governance Association (NGA) has estimated that around a third of schools have yet to engage with environmental sustainability at all.
So why not join us on Saturday 16th November at the DAG free Saturday morning conference at Exeter Racecourse to hear from Nicki Schantz, South West Hub Manager, Climate Ambassadors. Nicki will consider the existing initiatives around environmental sustainability, along with resources available to enable progress with developing climate action plans.
In addition to an amazing line-up of speakers, there will be an opportunity to network with refreshments and cake! Please register via the DAG website www.dagdevon.uk.
