SEND Guidance for School Governing Boards

The Department for Education (DfE) has just produced special educational needs (SEN) and disabilities guidance for school governing boards.

The guidance is to help boards with their role and responsibilities in relation to pupils with special educational needs (SEN) and disabilities and to empower governors and trustees to hold their schools to account.

School governing boards should play an active role in providing support and challenge to ensure their schools are providing effective support for pupils with SEN and disabilities.

Devon County Council’s SEND Transformation work will be discussed at the next DAG Chairs Forum on Tuesday 25th February at 6.00pm.  Kellie Knott will be briefing chairs at the online forum, Kellie is the SEND Strategic Director for Devon County Council and she will be bringing chairs up to date on Devon’s work in this key area and highlighting the role for governors and trustees to support this important work.
