Using technology in education

The latest guidance support and policy documents for education providers on the use of technology in education have been updated.

The DfE is setting digital and technology standards for schools and colleges. Schools should use these standards to support their school or college to use the right digital infrastructure and technology. The DfE will be adding more digital and technology categories to the service.

Meeting these standards can help schools make more informed decisions about technology, which will lead to safer, more cost-efficient practices and new learning opportunities for students.

Digital leadership and governance standards and creating technology strategy are part of the ‘Meeting digital and technology standards in schools and colleges’ linked to this overall guidance. It is suggested that schools need a member of their SLT to have strategic oversight of all digital technology and how it fits with their development plan. The DfE also suggest that governors or trustees should also consider assigning a digital link role with the governing body or board of trustees.
