Keeping Children Safe in Education 2025

The latest version of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) has now been published. This latest version for 2025 has only technical changes and is for information only at this stage. The DfE will publish KCSIE 2025 (final version) when it comes into force on 1 September 2025.

Changes noted:

• The guidance refers to the likelihood of revised guidance on relationships, sex and health education and gender questioning children being issued this summer, links to this will be included in the final version on 1 September
• The DfE has updated the list of online safeguarding harms from 2024 to include misinformation, disinformation (including fake news) and conspiracy theories
• Updated the section for governing bodies on filtering and monitoring
• This latest guidance refers to the ‘Working Together to Improve School Attendance’ as now being statutory
• Alternative provision (AP) guidance has been clarified around seeking written information from the AP provider that appropriate safeguarding checks have been carried out.
