Come and join DAG on the Devon Education Forum

DAG is looking for governors and trustees to join its existing members of the Devon Education Forum (DEF).

Schools forums are an important contact point between the local authority and schools. Through debate, discussion and challenge, they consider financial strategic planning that has an impact on all Devon schools.

A role with DEF can provide a chance for both maintained schools and academy members to:

  • Engage closely with the Local Authority and with government initiatives
  • Develop a greater understanding of national and local strategic priorities for education, to better inform their governor or trustee board role
  • Share good practice
  • Bring issues facing schools to the Local Authority’s attention and help to avert problems by developing a shared perspective
  • Hold the Local Authority to account whilst keeping a strategic focus on key educational priorities.

The Devon Association of Governance (DAG) would love to hear from governors and trustees who might consider taking on this additional voluntary role. Meetings are held four times a year on a Wednesday morning and can be attended remotely or in person at County Hall in Exeter. See the DEF page on the county council website for more information.
