Section 175 Safeguarding Audit – January 2026
This year’s S175 link is now open. Schools are asked to ensure they have returned their completed Section 175 to DCC no later than 13th Feb...
Latest data from the government shows an increase in the number of pupils leaving schools to be educated at home – elective home education (EHE).
126,000 children were in elective home education (EHE) on census day in autumn 2025. In the previous autumn term, there were 111,700 children electively home educated. 175,900 children were EHE at any point during the 2024/25 academic year and across the previous academic year there were 153,300 children in EHE.
The number of EHE children has increased each autumn since the start of the data collection. As this is a relatively new data collection, which first became mandatory in autumn 2024, changes over time are likely to be in part due to improvements in data quality.
