Shaugh Prior Primary closes

Shaugh Prior Primary School is a maintained Community school within the Exe Valley and Moorsway Federation for ages 4-11. It had been under-subscribed for several years, and currently only has 2 pupils on roll, who since September 2025 have been educated off-site at Cornwood Primary School within the federation.

Whilst there was a presumption against closure, it was clear there was sufficient evidence that Shaugh Prior Primary School was not educationally sustainable. The DCC Cabinet expressed regret at the proposal that Shaugh Prior Primary School will be closed from 31 August 2026.
