After more than 25 years of supporting schools across England and Wales, Governors for Schools is changing their name, the charity will now be known as Boards for Education.
Since its founding, Governors for Schools has connected schools with skilled, committed volunteers to strengthen governance. While this work remains at the heart of the organisation, the charity has grown significantly in recent years to meet the changing needs of the education sector.
In 2022, the organisation expanded into academy trustee and member recruitment, supporting the increasing number of multi-academy trusts. In 2025, it launched a Further Education Governor Recruitment Service, backed by the Department for Education, and in 2026 it will introduce : Charity Trustee Recruitment.
Today, school governor recruitment is just one part of a much broader picture. The new name, Boards for Education, reflects this evolution, recognising the charity’s role in supporting strong governance across schools, trusts, colleges, and the wider education landscape.
