Experts at Hand (EAH) is being developed as part of the national SEND reforms, which will be rolled out over the next three years.
In year one, Devon is launching the EAH model in three test and learn communities to understand what works in practice and to continue to co-produce the offer with settings and families.
The EAH model aims to provide earlier, more accessible and equitable support for children and young people by bringing together multi-disciplinary expertise to work more closely with settings and communities. A key focus is on building capacity, strengthening the graduated response and supporting settings to identify and meet needs effectively at the earliest point.
The test and learn communities have been identified as Exeter Beacon, Bideford and Newton Abbot. These learning communities have been deliberately selected to ensure the model is tested robustly across Devon’s full system context. The purpose of these sites is to test, learn and refine the model ahead of wider implementation, ensuring it is effective and responsive to the needs of children, young people and settings across Devon.
