Spotlight on the DAG Board – Faith Butler

The Devon Association of Governance (DAG) Board meets regularly throughout the year to manage the affairs of DAG and support governing boards to further the interests of children in their schools and the standard of their education.

Faith Butler brings over three decades of governance experience to the table. She represents special schools on the Devon Education Forum, is the current chair and serves on the School Finance Group.  Faith is a trustee of SENtient, Chair of the governing board of Marland School, Safeguarding Governor and CiC Governor.

Faith says of her governance role: “being a Governor is one of the most worthwhile things that I do. The chance to help improve outcomes for children is a real privilege, especially at Marland where many of the students have not had the best experiences at other schools, to see them achieving and leaving school able to go onto further education and work is always rewarding.”

As one of the longest serving board members of the Devon Association of Governance, she says of her work with DAG:  “Being part of the DAG Board is always interesting, I have learnt so much over the years which has helped my role as governor and even more so as Chair. I have had a chance to understand the role of the Local Authority, school finance and many other aspects of education so much better, being able the help influence decision making, where possible is an added bonus.

Would you consider a role with DAG, becoming part of the DAG Board, or the Devon Education Forum to support all those in governance across Devon?  If you are interested, please get in touch via [email protected].
