The association of the poorest funded local education authorities (f40) has written to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak urging him to make education and SEND a priority by increasing budgets and making funding fairer.
Devon Local Authority is a member of f40 and the organisation has timed the letter to correspond with the work the government will be doing to look at their fiscal policy decisions, urging them to invest in schools and the future of our children. The letter discusses the issue in detail and says:
“ We do not wish to see money taken away from the better funded schools, but we do wish to see more provided to those that are poorly funded. With the current cost of living crisis, schools are facing greater pressures than ever and many may struggle to pay their energy costs this year.”
As part of the f40 campaign for fairer and increased funding, f40 is looking to develop some short case studies that demonstrate the difficult decisions schools are having to make on a regular basis. If your school can provide a short case study showing how the school has struggled to make their budget stretch, please contact Karen Westcott on [email protected]. The case study does not have to be long, but it must demonstrate the impact of insufficient and unfair funding.
