Safeguarding Audit

Has your school completed the S175 Safeguarding Audit for the year, noting that the deadline for completion is 31 January 2023.

The Safeguarding Audit that schools complete for the local authority is a statutory requirement that will also provide valuable information to boards on any weaknesses identified and actions to rectify them.

Although the audit is undertaken by the designated safeguarding lead, the safeguarding governor should be part of the process and ensure that the safeguarding audit is shared with the board once completed. Any concerns should result in an action plan against the weaknesses identified in the audit, plus any other areas identified in need of additional attention.  Boards will then be able to monitor and evaluate progress against the action plan.
