Teacher Pay Increase?

This term the STRB (School Teachers’ Review Body) will make a decision on the increase to the level of pay for teachers for the year 2025-26.

For the last ten years governments have more or less followed the recommendations of the STRB in awarding a teacher pay increase, however, this year the government has already indicated that it would like the increase to be 2.8% and the STRB is rumored to be considering a 4% uplift.

The STRB will publish their recommendation at the beginning of June. For schools of course the vital information they need to accompany the percentage uplift for their teaching staff, is whether the full increase will be funded or not. The talk of schools funding pay increases through “efficiencies” continues.
