Ofsted Delay?

Education secretary Bridget Phillipson has written to Ofsted’s chief inspector expressing her disappointment that schools will not see finalised plans for new inspections until after the summer holidays.

She reminds the chief inspector that it is important that Ofsted delivers to the expected timescales, adding that she notes Sir Martyn’s absolute commitment to introduce the revised framework in November as planned and communicated to the sector.

Ofsted has confirmed that the watchdog’s consultation response has been delayed until September but confirmed that its new inspections of schools will still start in November. This is despite Ofsted previously advising schools that they would have a term’s notice between its final plans being published and inspections starting.

Would you like to hear from Ofsted about the new framework?  Have you booked your place at the DAG Online Ofsted Seminar on Wednesday 9th July 2025 at 6.00pm?  The speaker will be Sarah McGinnis, Ofsted Assistant Regional Director South West.

Please reserve your place by emailing [email protected] as soon as possible. This seminar is free to attend for all governors, trustees, clerks and governance professionals in Devon.
