Regional School Commissioners (RSCs)

Civil servants that act on behalf of the Secretary of State. Their responsibilities include intervening in under preforming academies and free schools, making decisions on conversion to academy status, and encouraging and deciding on applications for academy sponsors. There are eight RSCs serving different regions, reporting to the Schools Commissioner.
